Taming the Wild Button Collection

I have been working on a few projects this past week, but only have photos of one project. This project only touches the surface of my extensive button collection. I have metal buttons, wooden buttons, buttons for kids and babies, ladies and men. I have buttons made of shell and lucite and the occasional glass. For a girl who just started this collection, I'm doing quite well!

Anyway, I need a way to make some of these buttons presentable for selling. Also, I needed a MIFS entry for this week that I could photograph easily. All my other projects are clothing related and require the presence of a photographer and multiple costume changes! This MIFS was calm and fairly photogenic.

What, exactly, is this project? Well you may ask...for this project I chose to create button cards for my vintage buttons. I wanted to make cards that reflect the spirit of my Etsy shop: the home gnome. So, I sepia-toned a photo of our garden gnome and used 2X3s and 3X5s for button cards. The images are printed on cardstock. I then punched holes in the cards for the shank buttons and secured them with yarn. The sweater buttons are sewn onto the cards in the usual manner.
